Corin founded Maberly & Co in 2014 and leads the firm’s technology, telecommunications and government procurement practices. He has 25 years’ legal experience and works closely with his clients to provide strategic transactional and commercial advice on projects in these areas. He works across New Zealand and throughout the Pacific. Corin is an expert in structuring complex transactions, running negotiations and advising on risk and stakeholder management.

 

Corin is known for:

 

• advising numerous NZX-listed companies and NZ Government agencies on large scale IT procurement projects (software licensing, development and systems integration). He works with his clients to structure and negotiate agreements for complex IT projects, and navigate through the contractual frameworks of multinational vendors such as SAP, Oracle and Microsoft;

• being a leading telecommunications legal expert in the Pacific region. He advises network operators and submarine cable companies on supply, network procurement and maintenance contracts, financing arrangements, capacity and IRU sales and telecommunications regulation; 

• working with both New Zealand and multinational companies doing business with the NZ Government. He advises on sourcing strategies and responses to NZ Government requests for proposals, bid management, government relations on major procurements and has significant experience running negotiations in competitive processes.

 

Fortunate to have worked in top tier law firms in Auckland and London, Corin was also a founding partner in an international boutique law firm. He has also worked as an in-house lawyer for both listed companies and start-ups, with responsibilities across the UK, Europe, United States, Africa and Australia. This broad blend of experiences and cultures has provided Corin with unique insights and perspectives on how to provide great service to his clients and how to create a great place to work. Maberly & Co is the outcome of these experiences.

 

Corin relishes his family time, supporting his two sons in their respective sporting endeavours as much as possible and relaxing with his wife. In rare moments of “me” time, you’ll find Corin cycling, paddling his surf ski on Auckland’s beautiful harbour or reading.
